To #ProjectGlass and #ThroughGlass or Not

Last week, I got what I figured was a very crafty spam email message, claiming to be from Google’s Project Glass, informing me that “My Glass is now ready.” Some checking revealed that the email is, in fact, legit. Apparently when I used #ifihadglass in a #googleplus post, it entered me for the opportunity to beta test Glass.

Initially I was super excited. I’ve been following postings on Google+ and some of the postings are really cool. I like testing things and experimenting, so being offered the opportunity for Glass is pretty awesome in that respect.

However, I find myself re-evaluating all of my online time, especially my social media use. Platforms that I once found useful are less so. I unplugged, mostly, while on vacation and it was glorious. Some platforms I haven’t returned to as expected. Being without has brought a certain kind of peace, peace of mind maybe, that I rather enjoy. Joining #throughglass seems like it would mess that up, though maybe not. I use Google+ more now than Twitter.

What would you do? Would you drop $1500 to see #throughglass ?
