This Time, a Golf Tournament

Last year was an adventure in river rafting. This year? A golf tournament. Rather glad I hauled my clubs from Chicago when I came back after the New Year. Lefty clubs are hard enough to find. Female lefty clubs are even more so.

Truth be told, I have only been to the driving range. I like to hit things, and all you do at a driving range is hit golf balls. So much fun! Also a good substitute since I no longer have a drum kit. Bonus: you can go to a driving range year around out here. I don’t go enough, but I do go. Hitting golf balls while seeing mountains (added bonus of hitting lefty) is pretty awesome.

Mountains were not in short supply at the Golden Eagle golf course, either.

The tournament was Texas Scramble style, which turned out to be quite fun. We were divided into groups of four, and each player tees off. We pick the best shot, everyone else grabs their balls and we do it again. Despite my shear enjoyment of hitting things, I suck at driving. I am pretty good at chipping, however. Even from sand traps. Go figure.

It was still weird to not be in the States for Independence Day, especially after having been in the States the two weeks prior for vacation. People were already getting ready for parades and what not. I got a little homesick which was quickly forgotten after the first tee off. I got lost in the fun of golf and having a fun, outgoing team. Better team building experience than river rafting, me thinks.

Who knows what next Independence Day will bring, in Canada?
