Memorial Day Weekend: Well Programmed American

I'm a very well programmed American. It is the last weekend of May, and my brain is rejoicing A) that it's Friday, and B) that it is Memorial Day weekend. The first real holiday since New Year's Day.

Hold on. Time out.

I'm not in America.

I'm in Canada.

Last weekend was a long weekend in Canada. All but two months out of the year have a long weekend, in Canada. While my American brain has slowly been able to process this, and gradually been able to overwrite its programming that not working all but six or seven days a year is OK, Memorial Day weekend has not been overwritten.

My brain is on autopilot, starting its shut down process for on this last Friday of May for the Memorial Day weekend.

What to do?
