#Canucks are Innovators. Rest of NHL? Imitators

Last night, now that all four of us are together again after vacations and trips for work, we went to dinner at a funky Japanese sushi place called The Eatery. The sushi is so good! Captain Crunch. The Volcano. Miss Piggy Roll. Seriously good sushi.

It's playoff season, hockey playoff season, to be exact. It is also the time of year when my social media streams develop mood disorders. The Blackhawks had a fantastic overtime win the other night to take the first game against Minnesota. My social media streams were ecstatic. The Canucks played San Jose last night, and lost, so my social media streams were, well, not ecstatic.

We were about half way through dinner last night when the Canucks game came on, and the camera panned back to show a packed ice rink with the whole crowd waving towels. My roommates then proceeded to explain to me that Vancouver was first to start the towel waving, now so prevalent at every US sporting event. The green men? Yeah, that started in Vancouver too, and anything else is just an imitation.

Sports fan though I am, I didn't know Vancouver was such a trend-setting sport town. My roommates have set me straight.
