It’s just dirty snow, which is what happens in Chicago after it has fallen but not yet melted.
There are patches of clean snow still, and of course it is still cold. It’s still March! And the kind of weather I remember. The landscape is still bleak and dead. Nothing is blooming. No boats in the harbor either.
The contrast between Chicago and Vancouver is more striking this year than last. Chicago is more vibrant while Vancouver is chill. People in Chicago walk with purpose to their destination. Suits and ties are normal. Buildings tower overhead, and traffic zips along. It is noticeable when you turn the corner to a quiet street. A little pocket of serenity.
The architecture is still magnificent. The landscaping eager to bloom.
Curious to revisit this when I return in June.
