Fall Colors

Snapped this before the wind and storm came through and blew them all off:

It is my favorite tree this time of year. That fire red just bursts each morning, and shines as the day passes. Gradually the leaves fall off, blanketing the green grass with red that spills out onto the driveway. The leaves dance and swirl with a breeze, or whip up a frenzy in the wind.

The prairie is beautiful this time of year, too. I love running on the prairie, seeing the leaves change and the trees start to shed them. The prairie grass turn from lush green to wheat brown while still swaying with the breeze. A last wave to summer before the wind shifts north and brings winter with it.

I won’t be here for that this year. I’ll experience Vancouver’s change instead.
