White Spot Pirate Pak Day

Well, we lost the game yesterday. By one run in extra innings. Considering we mercied against this team in our very first game of the season, we did really well. I went 2/4, with a single and a run. Far better than 0/3 the first game where I struck out at each at bat. It was a good season. Lots of fun. Good team. We’re already plotting next year. Afterwards we went to dinner, a little begrudgingly to White Spot, which is kind of like Ruby Tuesday’s or Applebees. It was close to the diamond but any grudginess faded when there was a sign declaring it Pirate Pak Day.

The meal comes in a pirate boat. You get a burger, fries, drink and ice cream. If you grew up in BC, Pirate Pak Day is one of your favorite days. My teammates were all excited and started reminiscing. I took a vicarious walk down memory lane during dinner. We’ve been to this particular White Spot before after a game, and it’s usually empty. Not on Pirate Pak Day! The place was packed. And everyone had ordered a Pirate Pak. Mostly teenagers and young adults since it was almost 9pm. Not many kept the pirate boats. Perhaps you outgrow things over time, but not the fond memories of the activity.
