Chillin’ at YVR

Here I sit, behind the Starbucks at YVR, looking out at a runway on a typical overcast Vancouver morning. Drinking Starbucks only because one of its gift cards has been burning a hole in my pocket. I collect them more than I use them so figured, why not?

Took about an hour to get through security and Customs. Pretty much what I expected. Long lines and lots if families. Checking in was the easy part. Ought a look into the Nexus program. *sigh* Another to-do though perhaps mid-priority. I’m do used to chatting with Customs agents now.

Anyway, so I’m heading back to pack up what I really want to bring with me and ship it. Er…find movers to move it, really. Preferably experienced movers with Customs experience as that seems to be the biggest hurdle. Heard of a company based in Toronto, Soft Touch or Gentle Touch Movers or something along those lines. On an ex-pat message board. Mentioned the movers could’ve met them in Nashville and moved them. Guy had gone through some other round about way.

Lots if things are round about, at least in the early going here. Keeps things interesting, to say the least. I keep thinking things will settle down soon. Getting set up in a new place, twice in three months, is hard.

The mental shift required to just keep moving is challenging. Mental energy, really. Guess this is the point where the novelty wears off and you ask yourself: what did I just do? Can I turn around and go home now?

No.

This is just another transition phase. All the administrative stuff and hassles of moving to a different country are gradually coming to an end.

Time to have some fun.

Once I sort through the rest of my stuff at home, I’ll be good. Cut ties with some stuff, and bring along what matters.

*chuckle*

Bring back all that I can’t leave behind.
