Come From Behind @vancanadians Win #playoffbaseball

For all the crappy weather I experienced those first six months or so, Vancouver delivered a perfect baseball evening. Clear. Cool. Perfect. And to top it off, the Vancouver Canadians played the Boise Hawks, a Cubs affiliate. About as close to Cubs playoff baseball as I’ll get this year.

The last time I saw these two play, the Canadians suffered a defensive meltdown. Things looked eerily similar until the sixth, though some of that was due to some questionable umpiring.

Everything changed in the sixth inning. The Canadians staged an impressive 7-run inning to take a 10-7 lead.

And man was the crowd into it! They were quite vocal about bad umpiring. Remember, too, that Nat Bailey Stadium is a small stadium. When 3400 people boo, you hear it. And when they cheer, you hear it for blocks around the stadium.

Cheer they did as the Canadians staged a sixth inning rally, and they didn’t let up.

Quite a sight to see. 3400 people on their feet, clapping and cheering. As tired as I was by then, it took 3 hours to get to the sixth, even I was buoyed by the energy. Very much like Wrigley when the Cubs have put together a rally, and are two outs from winning. The whole stadium is electrified.

A universal experience, no?
