I’ve arrived safely in #vancouver!
Long travel day. Started out in DC at 5am Eastern, and it is almost 3pm Pacific. Whew. It was a little hard passing through O’Hare instead of staying. Mom and I were a little teary on the phone. So close, yet so far away. I’ll be home again soon enough.
In the mean time, I’m starting the adjustment to my new home, new home city. Customs was pretty easy. Couple simple questions on where I was and why, then a “thank you and have a nice day.” Guess there wasn’t much to worry about. Already did the harder part of getting a visa.
Made it to a familiar, temporary apartment in Kits, and a quick grocery run. Little chat waiting in line. Being a new comer, offered some tips. People were generally friendly. Stopped at the Kits Coffee Co for a pick-me-up and taking a breather before unpacking.
Unpacking. Yuck. That’ll be a process, which is even less fun knowing I’ll have to pack it all up again when I move to a more permanent place. Better to settle in though, make it like home as much as possible. Nomad seems kind of appealing, but also a hassle. I’m starting to like the idea of having a place to call home.
Certainly feels nice to be here.
